The Munchkin

37 weeks

I’m afraid from here  on out the updates are going to get few and far between because i’m at home and the 3G signal here is shocking! moving on…

i’m on maternity leave now. Just saying that makes me realise how close we are to the Munchkin arriving. If she were to arrive tomorrow she’d be considered full term! time to start boiling the water and fetching clean towels folks 🙂

i have to admit that i’m LOVING being on leave.  it’s so awesome to be able to just flop on the couch and nap whenever the hell i want to! i even had 3 naps on tuesday. THREE!! it felt like heaven! i’m taking everyone’s advice and making the most of it while i can… i’m under no illusions as to the amount of sleep i’ll be getting when the Munchkin’s here!  i’ve also had a chance to get some order into the spare room, which is now looking more like a baby room and less like a storage area! Baby clothes have been washed and folded and packed away… and then re-arranged… and re-folded.can you say nesting?

Now while i’m talking about baby things, i have to say thank you to Anja and Lyndsay for their generosity.  i’ve said it before and i’ll probably say it many more times, without the support of the awesome twitter folk, i don’t know how we would have survived!

Jordan’s mom called last night and promised us some of Jordan’s things, including a cot, which is the one thing we don’t have yet. awesome, but she’ll only be bringing the stuff up at the end of the month, so if Munchkin arrives before then, we’ll have to make a plan, but i’m sure that a few nights in the pram won’t harm her?

Last weekend, Richard and i had a bump shoot with Timor at Emmerantia Botanical Gardens.  Lyndsay came to our place before hand and did wonders with my hair and makeup. I felt SO pretty, which at this stage of pregnancy is a very rare feeling for me!  Anyway, we had SO much fun and i can’t wait to see how the pictures come out! Thanks AGAIN to Timor and Lyndsay for spoiling us 🙂

We’re seeing the doctor every week now and today’s visit went very well, except for the doctor being late as usual.  His receptionist did apologise though, saying he had to rush off to do an emergency c-section, so at least he was late for a good reason and not because he was taking his merc to be serviced or something! I also noticed that he was even more cheerful and enthusiastic than normal this morning, once again reinforcing for me the belief that he REALLY loves his job!

He’s very happy with how everything’s going and says the Munchkin is growing beautifully. Very beautifully… he says she’s weighing in at 3kgs already! Last week she was 2.6 kgs. 400 grams in a week!! if she carries on like that she’ll weigh 4.2 kgs at birth! if she stays indoors for the full 40 weeks that is, which i doubt she will. Doctor says she’s (and i quote) “on her way into mommy’s pelvis,” so i guess she’s getting ready to make her big appearance! given all this, it’s a good thing that all the 0-3 month clothes we have have been washed and made ready, cos i don’t think she’ll be in newborn sizes for very long!

A small little bitch and moan about Discovery.  Now don’t get me wrong, i’ve had nothing but brilliant service from them since i’ve been with them.  Through years of motor racing, 2 pregnancies and a near death kidney infection, i’ve had no complaints. BUT this time round i’m on the Keycare plan, which means that i have to get pre authorised to see a specialist doctor, which i did, last year.  now it seems that because i was approved last year, this years visits  don’t count unless i get pre approved AGAIN! how friggin stupid!!

anyway, that’s all i have to tell for now.  i’m going to lie back on the couch and have another cup of tea 🙂

Can’t believe The Munchkin’s arrival is just around the corner. Really looking forward to meeting her…

Chicken, you’re really special and even though I don’t know you, it feels like I’m part of your family. Richard is a lucky man to have you carry his beautiful baby Munchkin and she is a lucky little chickenlett to have you as her mama. I wish you all the best and hope that you will be blessed with the healthiest baby on the planet.
Big hugs

Wow time sure does fly! Glad you are taking it easy and resting/nesting while you can.

Always a pleasure 🙂 Am always here if you need anything ok? And I do mean anything!
